Quote from J@tko :Really? That would be one of the hottest non-desert temperatures ever recorded on earth, that's all

Well, those things usually give a higher temperature given they have been exposed to the sun for several hours, but it's not very far from truth! It hasn't rained in a week here, but the humidity levels are very high. Parts of the state had official readings of 42ºC in the past days.

Well, here's what I usually looked like until summer kicked in and having a beard and long hair made my body temperature rise to 1000000 degrees celsius.

Quote from kiste :wasn´t epic racing a team a few years ago?

Yes, the team that gave the LFS world Simon Cattell, David Jundt and SC Steve Martin, among others, created by Lee Davidson, which I was a part of until it disbanded in 2010(?).

Quote from Myffe :God dammit I had something going with a girl and I already was like ''holy shit now I can boast with her picture on lfs forum like a douchebag''. Then out of ****ing nowhere she travels half country to **** with some random guy. What the shit.

Why is that relevant to your not posting of this girl's pictures? This isn't the therapist's office, post pics or GTFO.

Quote from sermilan :
Trust me, no one dies because he went out in a T-shirt to go to the local store, no one

Except the sort of ladies that go for a wee dive in the middle of the night with the termometers marking -30ºC, like the one the article I posted a link to commented on.

Anyway, my rant was never about how bad cold waves are or aren't. What I meant is that, in spite of all the problems that extreme cold and heat cause, I always see my european friends complaining about the temperature when it settles on a comfy mid-spring temperature.

Quote from -NightFly- :There are dumb people everywhere, not just in europe. Think outside the box a bit. If you had the same weather, you honestly believe that in your country there wouldn't be incidents/accidents like that?

Of course there would. THEN, I would make another post asking why Brazilians are stupid.

Thousands of people die all around the year, not just during heatwaves and cold waves. People who are used with the snowy cold conditions can cope with them pretty well, i somehow keep thinking after your post... what if ...where you live, winter like here would strike (even brits are on a panic mode over a few inches of snow...they are starting to get used to it now though)
You have pretty stable wheather where you live, so you are pretty much used to it, therefore you have no idea of what are you talking about. People tend to overreact sometimes yes, but it's not the europeans, it's the humanity. Cold could be pretty disturbing most of the time for me...car won't start, all batteries are all of a sudden empty, things(working equipment) tend to freeze and overall not to function properly and also it's pain in the arse to repair a air conditioner on the roof of a high building with this weather. So don't you me!

Also as someone said, +35 at summer and -35 at winters could cause problems to some people organism. Since human organism is homothermic we need to find some extra ways and means to survive on these conditions.

We're talking about a season of the year, not about being raped on my way home by some lunatic. If there's one thing the weather is pretty good at is punctuality - winters tend to happen at the same time pretty much every year and you can usually see it coming.

Given that most people who have died are old persons, I really cannot understand how someone who's probably gone through 50+ winters in their lifetime can feel the weather getting colder and colder and not think 'Blimey, time to put on a jumper and take the tea tray inside.'

One thing I don't understand about Europeans:

Heat wave = thousand of dead people;
Cold wave = thousands of dead people;
Normal weather = everyone complains it's too cold/hot.

Quote from Mustafur :Wilson has been meh in Indycar imo.

Well, two wins in 4 seasons (of the total 6 races won by non Ganassi/Penske/Andretti drivers in the period - first driver to win races for two non-top3 teams since Tomas Scheckter in 02/05 and Scott Sharp in 03/05), a top ten in Indy and a top five last year (same as Danica, Meira, Simona and Conway), ahead of Bourdais in Edmonton, say otherwise.

Quote from Cornys :No, none that I'm aware of anyways.

In other news: The NASCAR Fantasy League that we had running last year begins registration at some time tomorrow (Feb. 1st).

Would we have 10 people willing to do it once again? I rather enjoyed it last year

Yes, but...

Quote :Just brought it up as an idea. Maybe it would be better to stay with shorter races and driver oriented champ.

... I'd be more inclined to race under that system.

I got bored in preparation for the MoE Aston 24h and started a little project, in case Team Laptop Shop owner Steve Martin couldn't supply us with a skin for the race. He did, but we didn't get in by a tiny margin.

So here's the skin file, de-sticked and with our names removed, maybe someone would like to use it. It's already in LFSW as FZR_TurquoiseArrow.jpg
